Session Analysis & Tape Footprint
2026-10-02 — Real-time algorithmic tape breakdown, opening range mechanics, FVG resolution, and institutional order flow.
The session footprint in raw numbers.
Context is not a trigger. Sequencing is.
MNQZ6 came into the bell on NFP Friday, a scheduled max-impact release at 8:30 that printed before the open, and the open itself was a large gap up of 339.75 handles off the prior settlement, sitting above the entire range of yesterday's session. Yesterday's range is reference only here. I'm not going to hang this morning's move on the news, because the data doesn't attribute it, and the protocol on a day like this doesn't change: news is a veto, not a permission. Also, our data runs out at 12:04 PM, so everything below is the morning, not the full session. In the first five minutes price gave back just over a quarter of that gap and then started building.
Here's the thing I care about first thing in the morning: the 1st presented fair value gap. It printed bullish at 9:35, a small zone, and it was the checkpoint everybody had to answer to. Price kept coming back to it, 17 retests in all, and for a long stretch it held. Then at 11:09 it closed through, price ran down to the session low at 11:25, and it wasn't reclaimed until noon. That's the stop-run reading, closed through and taken back, and the data labels the zone swept then respected. But look at what followed the reclaim: a short push of a couple of minutes, nowhere near the session high, and then our data stops. That's not a launch point yet. It's a zone that survived a test, nothing more, and it needs the next session to prove it.
The 1st presented FVG is your checkpoint. Never anticipate it before price commits and proves delivery intent.
How it delivered, and what's next.
The gap never filled. The closest price came was 11:25, the session low, and it still missed the reference by exactly 179.25 handles. The opening range set at 9:59, broke to the high side first at 10:01, and the session high printed at 10:27. Then the low side of that range gave way at 11:12, and the session low followed at 11:25. So the morning went up, then came back down through the range, and we're sitting in the middle of it at the end of our data, not at either extreme.
Looking ahead: an unfilled gap is a live magnet, and this one has a long way to go. The session high and low are the resting liquidity, but treat them as provisional until the full session is in, since our data stopped at 12:04. Monday is a day I want built, not traded, so read the levels first.
Execution stance: AVOID
ICT does not advise speculating on it. Study it; don't trade it. "Non-farm payroll is a day I do not advise anyone to actually try to speculate on... The reason why I tell everyone to avoid like big days like FOMC and non-farm payroll weeks is because you don't have the experience. And you can get hurt very quickly." -- 2022 ICT Mentorship Episode 37.txt

Levels remain. The tape never forgets.
1. DAY -- Monday, [CAUTION] Monday. Cancel Monday out as a trading day while developing; it builds the range others trade. Also: [PRIME] The Weekly Cycle — front-load the week. 2. NEWS -- nothing max-impact scheduled. No release to reprice the open, so the higher timeframe draw stays in control. 3. LEVELS -- the unfilled gap at 30,808.75 is still a magnet; session high 31,282.75 and low 30,988.00 are the resting liquidity; the bearish gap at 31,218.25-31,234.00 never got revisited. 4. STANCE -- SELECTIVE. Tradable, but only on an obvious setup. No setup, no trade.
